At the opening of the University of Oulu’s academic year on September 4, 2023, meritorious persons in the university community were awarded. The award for industrial cooperation went to professor Lloyd Ruddock for the development and commercialization of CyDisCo technology.

Lloyd Ruddock and his team focus on disulfide bonds. They want to know how proteins gain these structure stabilizing features that enable them to have their biological properties. Disulfide bonds are important for many proteins so that they can have the right three-dimensional structure and be functional.

The invention expands the use of E.coli bacteria for the production of biological medicines. It has been granted a patent in Europe and in the United States.
